Dolly Sods Wilderness
A rocky, high-altitude plateau in eastern West Virginia, the Dolly Sods Wilderness offers sweeping vistas and a home for plants and animals usually found much farther north. Dramatic boulders and one-sided trees are shaped by wind and weather in this 17,000 A. Wilderness. Heath barrens and sphagnum bogs date from the post-Glacial Era 10,000 years ago.
Grant, Randolph and Tucker counties, West Virginia
